Clare's Monthly Report
It has been a busy month in Pickmere this month.
I have been out with our new speed watch volunteer and as a result 4 warning letters were sent out to motorists.
I have also met with the PCSO for Wincham to exchange information about our areas and what has been going on in them as they are so close together. We will keep in touch with each other in the future.
I attended the Pickmere Fun day on the 22nd and spent the day with Dave Owens, who is the Crime Prevention Officer. We had a lot of people come to see us and were able to pass over a lot of crime prevention advice. The weather was really good and everyone had a good day.
I set up a date for a picnic for the children in Pickmere on Clover Drive. I had help from three local ladies and we had about 10 children attend with their parents. The weather was excellent and everyone had a brilliant time. Hopefully this is something which can become a regular occurrence in the future.
There have been 2 vehicles broken into on Frog lane this month but nothing was taken as far as we are aware. Another vehicle was broken in to on Clover Drive, again nothing was taken as far as we are aware. We are asking residents to be vigilant and report anything which they think is suspicious that they see whilst out and about.
Police Force Survey
Cheshire Constabulary will be conducting research with a market research company called Marketing Means Ltd over the next 12 months. This research takes the form of a Local Confidence Survey conducted over the telephone (the requirement to conduct these surveys is a national Home Office Directive). Phone numbers, including mobile numbers will be selected at random.
Thanks
The Parish Council would like to express their thanks to the Parish Plan Steering Group and all those who helped them to produce The Parish Plan. It is an excellent, well presented booklet.
We also thank them for organising the very successful and enjoyable launch of The Plan at the Village Hall on the 17th April 2010.
Community Pride Competition
We are delighted to tell you that after a year's gap we have again this year entered the Community Pride Competition.
Judging will take place between now and the end of June and the judges are looking at the village as a living community rather than an artificially manicured museum piece.
The areas that will be judged are Telephone Kiosks, Seats and Benches, Public Car Parks, Public Houses and Commercial Premises, Village Halls and Meeting Places, Chapels, Children's Playgrounds and Open Green Spaces. Good maintenance, and absence of litter and dog fouling are of course major requirements.
In addition to the main award, there is a new Community Spirit Award, which covers the areas
Community - Local facilities, young people, senior citizens
Business - The part played by local business in village life
Sustainability - How the local community looks after its environment
Communications - How the community is given information and has its say in village life.
Already this year the Parish Plan Steering Group have made excellent progress and we are hoping their endeavour can be continued, supported and built upon throughout the year. We hope everyone will continue to contribute to making our Village so special and enjoyable.
